Program Details:
RSVP is part of the Federal government’s Corporation for National and Community Service/ Senior Corps. Locally we are sponsored by the Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging. This program supports other programs and schools by recruiting, training and providing ongoing support for volunteers in those schools and programs. Anyone interested in volunteering through RSVP can contact us using above information. Volunteers age 55 and above can also get additional support, reimbursement, and benefits through free RSVP membership. RSVP membership application forms are currently in hard copy or can be emailed as a word attachment that can be printed and mailed back. Volunteers are trained to work with lower level elementary initially but many work with students at all different levels, especially in the Amigoos Para Todos program. The RSVP Reading for Understanding and Amigos Para Todos programs are evaluated through surveys of teachers and students who have worked with RSVP volunteers, through surveys of progress of students who work with RSVP volunteers and through corroborating test and/or grade level achievement reports of students who work with RSVP volunteers. RSVP is funded by CNCS, States of Illinois and Iowa and the United Way.
